Indonesia | New Projects and Goals for the Tourism Industry with a New Minister

 

Indonesia, country in Southeast Asia and Oceania, the world's largest archipelagic state with over 17.000 islands situated between Indian amd Ocean Pacific, well known for its pristine beaches, suggestive bays, an impressive biodiversity with a population estimated at 270 million people, composed of more than 1.300 ethnic groups and speaking of more than 700 languages has a new Minister of tourism ; Widiyanti Putri Wardhana that on 21st october she was sworn by President Prabowo Subianto who has formed the country's largest cabinet since 1966.

The new cabinet, known as the "red and white cabinet", comprises a total of 48 ministries, and the Ministry of Tourism is now separate from the Ministry of Creative Economy starting now a new path with new projects and goals for the tourism industry.

The Minister in her first speech outlined several key objectives that are intended to be achieved in her first six months in office.

·       Gathering insights for tourism transformation : collaborating with relevant stakeholders to gather insights to transform the tourism sector.

·       Develop 5.0 tourism initiatives : implement digital marketing strategies for events and introduce travel assistance trough AI.

·       Formulate a grand strategy for Indonesia Quality Tourism Fund : Create a strategic plan to diversify domestic attractions and host events on an international scale.

·       Establish collaborations with world – class institutions : design alliances for the transfer of knowledge and create world – class schools of tourism excellence.

The new Minister has over 30 years of experience in the business world holding a Bachelor of Science from Pepperdine University in California based in Malibu in Los Angeles County.

Minister Widiyanti Putri Wardhana believes that the experience with her studies has taught her the importance of smart strategies, efficient methods and collaboration commenting that she can bring a fresh perspective and enthusiasm to advance Indonesia's tourism sector in the future.
