Lisbon, capital and largest city of Portugal located on the western edge of the Iberian Peninsula at the estuary of the Tagus River boasting a rich historical, cultural and artistic heritage, one of the oldest cities of the world and the second oldest European capital after Athens, considered a global city due to its importance in sectors such as art, commerce, education, finance, international trade, publishing and tourism was awarded as world's best city break destination on the occasion of the 25th edition Star Awards 2024.
At Travel Bulletin's Star Awards ceremony, the Portuguese city was named as top destination by Great Britain tourists in the event organized by Travel Bulletin, organization based in London, the Uk's leading travel trade brand delivering news, training, incentives, competitions and well know connector of travel agents and suppliers in the United Kingdom.
The award confirms that the Portuguese capital is the favourite destination for tourists from the UK for a city break winning against relevant, competing cities such as Barcelona, Budapest, Krakow, New York, Prague and Rome.
The Executive Director of the Lisbon Tourism Association Paula Oliveira explained to the local media that this distinction recognises Lisbon as a privileged destination for tourists from the United Kingom for a holiday, given the diversity of tourist attractions of great interest that the destination has.
