Paraguay, South American country nestled between Argentina, Bolivia and Brazil characterized by vast, green plains among which the emblematic Chaco stands out, which includes 60% of the territory, with lakes and crossed by the Paraná and Paraguay rivers that give the country a remarkable biodiversity through its Senate, has recently discussed an initiative focused on the safety of tourists preservation facing the increasing arrival of international viitors.
In recent times, the South American country has experienced excellent progress in terms of incoming tourism with important congresses and conferences that have been held in its capital Asunción proving to be a valuable MICE destination, in addition the country will host the WRC, the World Rally Championship in 2025, 2026 and 2027 and of course the Government is committed to creating deterrents by preserving and protecting these resources that are generating relevant benefits to the national economy.
Bound to all that, in order to ensure the progressive success at the level of incoming tourism and to guarantee pleasant stays in the country to international tourists, the proposal promoted by Senator Rubén Velázquez was put forward, highlighting that it includes modifications to the criminal procedure code with the aim of toughening penalties for crimes such as robbery and assault, which are the most common crimes committed against tourists.
The Senator also stressed that the new regulation will imply the preservation of security in border cities by protecting visitors and citizens, optimizing the processes and procedures for complaints.
As an additional note reflecting real statistical data, the Government Authorities of Paraguay have pointed out that currently the levels of insecurity of citizens are lower than those of neighboring countries.
