Turespaña, the Spanish Tourism Institute, public body attached to the Ministry of Industry and Tourism through the Secretary for tourism, responsible for promoting Spain abroad as as tourist destination as does so through marketing and the promotion of the national tourism strategy, which it coordinates and leads launches a microsite that highlights several aspects that essentially concern the conservation of heritage, nature in many aspects and the various options of sustainable transport in the national territory.
To improve access to a greater number of users at an international level, the microsite is available in four languages such as English, French, German and Italian.
Included in the official website of Turespaña is the new sustainability.spain.info portal that illustrates various interesting proposals such as active and naturalistic tourism, new ideas to travel that include gastronomic tours and itineraries with advises to discover the cities and much more.
Also relevant are the tips on how to generate a more positive impact during a stay in Spain, adopt more responsible behaviors, choose means of transport and accommodation among others.
The Director of the Spanish Tourist Board and Deputy Consul at the Consulate General of Spain in Milan Blanca Pérez - Sauquillo López said that Turespaña, since 2021 has undertaken assiduous work with regard to sustainability, entering into close collaboration with both international tour operators and professionals in the sector as was done with Spain Talks, an initiative consisting in a a series of events that highlights the efforts of the tourism industry to promote sustainable tourism.
These events are aimed to have a solid and collaborative approach with the tourism industry in major markets providing a platform for sharing ideas and learning, an opportunity for dialogue, collaboration and also exchange of knowledge around the main challenge facing the various aspects of the sector.
Linked to all that Spain Talks through "Caring for the Future" a series of events and initiatives aimed specifically at sustainable good practices this year has seen events organized in relevant cities such as London, Milan, New York, Paris and Stockholm with a next stop scheduled in Berlin with the primary goal of internationalizing purely sustainable tourism services and products.
Nowadays it is fundamental and important to communicate this change to tourists as well and since 2022 an activity has been undertaken that consists of a survey that focuses on the satisfaction of international tourists which includes questions on the perception of sustainability in the country with particular and specific reference to environmental protection, efficient use of energy, recycling and the impact of tourism on local communities.
The new portal has as its main focus the objective of guiding tourists towards more responsible decisions in their travel planning by making known the destinations in Spain that are implementing strategies focused on promoting the sustainability of tourism.
