Moldova | Launch of its Tourist Offer with various Proposals Abroad

 

Moldova, Eastern European country and former Soviet republic located on the northeastern corner of the Balkans, landlocked land between Romania and Ukraine, encompassing parts of the historical regions of Bessarabia and Southern Podolia highlighted by a varied terrain including rocky hills, forests, farmland, wetlands and vineyards launches its tourist offer with its attractions and various proposals abroad.

After many years, Moldova returns to invest in the tourism industry outside its borders and re-presented itself internationally as at the recent TTG Travel Experience which was held in Rimini, in Italy from 09th to 11th October 2024.

The offer highlighted the more than 40 events dedicated to culture, folklore, sport and food and wine  that will take place during the entire 2024/25 season in various locations in the country and mainly in Chișinău, capital and major center of the country well known for its Soviet - style architecture but also boasting in its area innumerable parks and wildlife, 23 lakes and one of the highest proportions of natural spaces of any city in Europe.

Of note is the proposed kayaking on the Dniester River, 1,362 kilometres long, having its source in the Ukrainian Carpathians, in the Eastern Beskids highlighted by its high and hilly western bank, while the eastern bank is low and flat with presence of verdant planes and forests and reprenting, the de facto edge of the Eurasian steppe and the River Prut, 953 kilometres long, a left tributary of the Danube bathing the Pohorilets Springs Reserve which was declared a biosphere reserve by UNESCO in 2018.

A further proposal is that of climbing to reach the monastery carved into the rock in Ohreiul Vechi, famed historical, ecclesiastical and archaeological complex located in Trebujeni in the central - eastern part of Moldova along the gorge of the lower course of the Răut River where the UNESCO included as world heritage a 1905 Orthodox Church dedicated to the Ascension of St Mary as well as ruins from different eras from the times of the Dacian tribes about 2000 years ago to those of the Mongol and Tatar invasions.

The Transnistria landlocked land bordering Bessarabia, a narrow valley stretching north – south along the bank of the Dniester also enters in the Moldova tourist offer.

Among relevant events proposed is the DescOpera, a classical music festival of rare beauty held at the foothills of Orheiul Vechi Reserve cliffs.

Moldova is also one of the largest wine - producing countries in Europe with over 140.000 hectares of vineyards and more than 100 wineries and as proposa by Moldova Tourism Board is the National Wine Day celebrated in the Grand National Assembly Square of the capital Chișinău.

The capital of Moldova can be reached by flights operated by the airlines Wizz Air, FlyoneOne and Hisky landing at Chișinău International Airport loated 13.0 kilometres from the city centre.
