Vila Galé Hotéis – Xvinus | Opening of a Winery and Soon of a Hotel in Northern Portugal

 

 

Vila Galé Hotéis, the second largest Portuguese hotel group founded in 1986 and headquartered in Lisbon through an initiative carried out by Xvinus, a wine tourism company owned by the hotel group, has opened the Paço do Curutelo winery in Ponte de Lima, a very attractive village located in the sub region of Alto Minho, belonging to the North region and the district of Viana do Castelo in the Vinho Verde region in Northern Portugal.

With an investment of €3.4 million, Paço do Curutelo includes an area of 57 hectares and has already planted about 13 hectares of vineyards with plots aged between 7 and 20 years with new plantings planned in 2025 for a total of 20 hectares with different varieties of grapes such as Alvarinho, Avesso,  Arinto and Loureiro.

This is the second wine brand of Xvinus that already owns Val Moreira for its wine production in Quinta do Val Moreira, a locality located on the south side of the Douro River a very productive wine area from grapes that grow along the river with vineyards cultivated at a suitable height with the support of an ideal subsoil and a mild climate.

With a production capacity of over 200.000 bottles, this new winery has been equipped with the most modern technologies, which will allow to follow and control in an optimal way all the production processes, from the reception of the selected grapes to the control of the fermentation phase up to bottling and having the capacity to vinify all portions of the property.

The Paço do Curutelo winery with a contemporary architecture it is part of a wine tourism project that also includes the construction of the Hotel Vila Galé Collection Ponte de Lima Vineyards, Historic, Country, Resort Hotel Conferences & Spa, an event center.

 The inauguration of the complex is scheduled for April 2025 and it will provide 69 rooms, outdoor swimming pools for adults and children, a lounge, events area, a bar, two restaurants, a library and a museum dedicated to the history of the place.
