LATAM Airlines Group | Agreement with Boeing to Acquire Ten 787 Dreamliner Aircraft

 

LATAM Airlines Group, ethnocentric, multinational airline holding company the largest airline holding in Latin America with headquarters in Santiago - Chile and with subsidiaries in Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Paraguay and Peru announced an agreement for the acquisition of ten 787 Dreamliner aircraft with Boeing, well known multinational corporation that designs manufactures and sells airplanes founded in 1916 and based in Arlington County - Virginia - U.S.

The agreement also includes options for five additional aircraft and LATAM Airlines, as the region's leading operator for the 787 with this recent order for the fuel-efficient 787-9 aircraft, further reinforces the group's commitment to maintaining one of the most advanced aircraft fleets in Latin America.

Currently, LATAM Airlines Group boasts a fleet of 37 Boeing 787-8 and 787-9 aircraft and with the addition of this latest order, the company plans to expand its capacity to 52 Dreamliners by 2030.

The 787 aircraft facilitate LATAM Airlines' ability to optimize capacity on high-demand routes and consequently introduce new services as direct flights to Sydney, Australia.

The group that brings together the 787 aircraft types is characterized by its fuel efficiency that allows airlines to reduce fuel consumption and emissions by 25% compared to the aircraft it replaces and all this is a priority for LATAM Airlines Group.

The larger variant, the 787-9 is known to improve both the capacity and autonomy of the Dreamliner series to allow more passengers and cargo to be transported over longer distances.

LATAM Airlines Group Chief Financial Officer Ramiro Alfonsin said the Boeing 787 represents a significant step forward in efficiency that enables the airline to pursue sustainable growth while minimizing carbon emissions while expanding the group's operations.

This order will ensure that LATAM Airlines Group will receive a minimum of two aircraft of this type each year from 2025 until the end of the decade.

Boeing's Vice President of Commercial Sales for Latin America and the Caribbean Mike Wilson thanked Latin America for the trust it has placed in the 787 Dreamliner to strengthen its international network from its hubs located in Santiago de Chile, São Paulo and Lima, stating that as demand for air travel increases, Boeing is committed to supporting LATAM Airlines Group's growth strategy with The objective of connecting Latin America to the global market.
