Maldives | Incoming Tourism Always Performing with a Growth of 9.4%

 

The Maldives, an exotic, archipelagic state situated in South Asia in the Indian Ocean consisting of 1.1199 islands, 202 of which are inhabited about 750 kilometres from the Asian continent's mainland, well known for its idyllic beaches, unspoiled nature with its twenty - six atolls and three isolated islands divided into twenty subdivisions has recorded a 9.4% increase so far in 2024 always in comparison with data from the same period in 2023.

The Maldivian Ministry of Tourism has recorded detailed data with 1.63 million tourists visiting the country to date, an increase of 140.000 tourists compared to the 1.49 million tourists recorded in the same period of 2023.

China remains the main source market with over 200.000 tourists visiting the Maldives this year and a statistical ranking has been drawn up with a top 10 to verify the provenance of visitors as follows:

·       China - 236.800 tourists

·       Russia - 177.700 tourists

·       Great Britain - 137.200 tourists

·       Germany - 121.800 tourists

·       Italy - 112.000 tourists

·       India – 97.300 tourists

·       United States of America - 54.400 tourists

·       France - 43.500 tourists

·       Spain - 37.800 tourists

·       Switzerland - 31.400 tourists

Other statistical details have been quantified as additional data with a total of 1.220 tourist destinations in the Maldives, including 167 resorts, 887 guesthouses, 152 safaris and 14 hotels.
