Hyatt currently owns 9.99% of Playa Hotels & Resorts NV's shares and it has filled an amendment to its schedule 13D with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission to publicly disclose these discussions, as required by federal securities laws.
The CEO of Hyatt Hotels Corporation Mark S. Hoplamazian acknowledged the long - standing partnership with Playa Hotels & Resorts NV and highlighted the strong reputation of the partner as a leading operator of all - inclusive resorts with a portfolio of high - quality locations across Mexico and the Caribbean region.
The potential transaction with the acquisition could provide Hyatt Hotels Corporation with new, long – term sources of revenue aligning with their asset - light business strategy.
