Malaysia, Southeast Asian country occupying parts of the island of Borneo and the Malay Peninsula, well known to be one of 17 megadiverse countries, cosmopolitan culture, rainforests and prisitine beaches has introduced a new travel requirement for international visitor which came into force on 1st December 2024, in this way all travellers heading to the Asian country have to complete the MDAC, the Malaysian Digital Arrival Card, before their arrival.
This new iniatitive by the Malaysian government is designed to streamline the immigration process and improve security protocols at Malaysia's borders.
The implementation of the MDAC is an essential part of Malaysia ongoing efforts to improve the security and efficiency of its immigration procedures, by collecting essential traveller data in advance, the system is expected to streamline the immigration process, reducing wait times and minimizing congestion at border controls.
This initiative, in addition, contributes to Malaysia's broader efforts to safeguard public health and ensure the fluidity of international travel as the world continues to adapt to post - pandemic conditions.
Tourists planning to travel to Malaysia are advised to stay updated on any changes to MDAC requirements to ensure smooth entry into the country.
The MDAC form must be completed within three days of entry into the country, providing the necessary travel and health information, once completed travellers must print a copy of the form to present at the immigration counter.
Ended this step, Immigration officials will check the MDAC form against the visitors's passport, which must be valid for at least six months from the date of entry.
Although most visitors must complete the Malaysian Digital Arrival Card, there are specific exemptions, these include permanent residents of Malaysia, MACS, Malaysian Automated Authorization System pass holders, and travellers transiting or transiting through Singapore without going through immigration.
