Venice, historic, romantic, bewitching capital of the Veneto region, built on a group of 126 islands that are separated by expanses of open water and by canals in a lagoon in the Adriatic Sea, as for cars on the road will also have an approved tool, denominated "barcavelox" developed to sanction speeding of motorboats and small boats on the Grand Canal and in the internal canals.
The introduction of this tool, strongly requested by the Municipality of Venice, has become part of the new Highway Code approved in the Senate.
As for road speed cameras, the regulation also provides for a percentage reduction with a minimum of 2 kilometres per hour, to the speed detected to consider the instrumental tolerance.
The Mayor of Venice Luigi Brugnaro, commented that as he announced at the States General of Water Traffic and Wave Motion, Venice has worked to insert a special amendment to the Highway Code for the approval of the speed camera system which has become law.
That discussion will be started immediately with the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport for the preparation of the application for the entry into force and approval of the system.
It is a fundamental action for the reduction of speed and the fight against wave motion, which the municipality will introduce through a transitional phase shared with categories, associations, rowing companies and operators.
