a&o Hostels, hostel chain headquartered in the capital of Germany, Berlin that offers affordable, functional rooms for families, groups and young travellers, opened its second establishment in Belgium following the opening of the a&o Antwepen Centraal in October 2024.
The new entry is the a&o Brussels Centrum, former The President Brussels Hotel which has been operating under the group brand since 1st January 2025 and is being gradually renovated and modernised.
The a&o Brussels Centrum is located in the business district of the Belgian capital, just 500 metres from Brussels North Train Station,on Boulevard du Roi Albert II, a long urban artery which connects Boulevard Badouin and Avenue du Boulevard to Avenue de l' Héliport.
The hostel conversion will occur in stages, costing an estimated €7.0 million, the hostel currently provides 296 rooms and after the refurbishment, it will offer a total of around 377 rooms and 1.368 beds.
The Founder and CEO of a&o Hostels Oliver Winter said that opening two expectional establishments in Belgium is unsual, first Antwerp and now Brussels, this fulfils the group's growrh target in Belgium and the opening of a&o Brussels Centrum increases the total number of beds globally to over 30.000.
Property takeovers are a&o Hostels favourite, they enable dynamic and healthy growth for the company, conversions are also a focus when it comes to further growth for the business.
As additional note concerning the group in February 2025 the a&o Firenze Campo di Marte in Florence will be the second a&o hostel to open in Italy, providing 121 rooms and hosted in a former municipal administration building.
In addition to that a&o Hostels is projected to expand further in 2025, with potential, new a&o locations including Lisbon, London, Madrid, Manchester and Paris.
