Acapulco - Mexico | Strong Investment to Recover and Revitalize the Destination

 

Acapulco, famed beach resort town and major seaport in the state of Guerrero on Mexico's Pacific Coast, located on a deep, large bay overlooked by the Sierra Madre del Sur mountains, famous port of call for shipping and cruise lines, known for its beaches, golf courses and high - energy nightlife will be protagonist of a strong investment to recover and revitalize its image and appeal which made it famous by the jet set in the 1950s and '60s elevating itself as a top destination very famous worlwide.

The President of Mexico Claudia Sheinbaum, signed the decree for the creation of the Acapulco - Coyuca Integrally Planned Center, a plan which aims to renovate the port city's infrastructure, to relaunch tourism and rehabilitating the iconic semicircular bay on which Acapulco is located with an investment of 8.000 million Mexican pesos, more than €370 million.

This new tourism initiative constitutes a figure of tourism promotion with which the large tourist cities of Mexico are developed and among the works to be carried out after the decree, in Acapulco will be managed a major rehabilitation of roads and public accesses to beaches, underground placement of electric installations, modernization of public lighting, installation of urban furniture and an embellishment of the city.

The Undersecretary of Tourism and in charge of the economic, cultural and social reactivation of Acapulco, Sebastián Ramirez Mendoza, stated that a comprehensive revitalization of the entire Historic Bay of Acapulco will be carried out, where a cultural, artistic, commercial, tourist and historical circuit will be created with an extension of approximately of 5.0 kilometres.

This new circuit begins at the cruise ship dock in the Administration of the Acapulco National Port System and that port center will be completely rehabilitated with an investment of more than 300 million pesos by the Secretariat of the Navy.

In addition the Undersecretary of Tourism also informed that in 2025 alone, Conagua, the National Water Commission which administers national waters, manages and controls the country's hydrological systems, and promotes social development will invest 1.800 million pesos in works to improve the drinking water and sanitation system of the city of Acapulco.
