This relevant performance is confirmed by the 6.7 million international tourists that the Latin American country received in 2024 increasing its visibility on the world tourist map, which is an indicator, not only of the confidence of travellers, but also for the strategies and plans to include in its very varied offer more destinations promoting their attractions inviting more and more tourists to discover authentic beauties.
The Executive President of ANATO, the Colombian Association of Travel and Tourism Agencies, Paula Cortés Calle highlighted that this 6.7 million non - resident visitors arrived in the country is a record figure which ratifies the commitment that all public - private actors in the sector have put into the implementation of initiatives to ensure that infrastructures and services result in strengthening the experiences provided to who travel through the Colombian territory.
Although the countries from which more travellers arrived in Colombia for tourism last year were the United States of America with a share of 28%, Mexico and Ecuador both with 8%, three markets that consolidated themselves every year as a notable resource of income for the South American country, those that reported the highest growth were Guatemala with an increase of 50%, Poland with 47%, Honduras with 46% and Costa Rica with 35% and other markets that stood out such as China, Uruguay and the Dominican Republic.
Analyzing the departments with the highest number in the arrival of international visitors are the capital Bogotá, Antioquia, Valle del Cauca and San Andrés stand out but it was Antioquia, Amazonas, Tolima, San Andrés and Bolivar that grew the most, a confirmation in the innovative promotion which elevates these destinations at a very notable level.
A further important note underlined by the Exectuitve President of ANATO is that in 2024, international visitors for business purposes grew by 27% with the months between September and November concentrating most of the visitis in the year, so this segment is also being a milestone for the arrival of travellers coming from abroad, with a work that is also focused to create strategies to extend their stays and to continue consolidating Colombia as a favourite destination internationally.
