The GEM, the Grand Egyptian Museum , also known as the Giza Museum is an archaeological museum under construction in Giza, about 2.0 kilometres from the iconic Giza pyramid complex covering an area of 500.000 square metres, the world's largest archaeological museum dedicated to a single civilization which will display thousands of pieces of the ancient civilization of the North African country, is working on preparation for a new date linked to the opening ot the entire complex scheduled for July 3, 2025.
It should be noted that the museum already partially oepend its doors in November 2023, and several rooms, gardens and commercial area, which include restaurants, café can be visited and the admission is currently limited to the Main Galleries, Grand Hall, Grand Staircase.
Today it is possible the access to the hanging obelisk, the glass hall and the atrium, where a colossal statue of Ramses II, the civitory column of Merneptah and the Saqqara cannon, a stone list with the name of 58 pharaohs are located while access to Tutankhamun area and Khufu's Boats Museum is restricted until the official opening.
The Director of the Museum, Ahmed Ghoneim, has reported in local media that work is underway for the entire opening of the site.
