Indonesia, a large archipelagic country in Southeast Asia and Oceania situated between the Indian and Pacific oceans comprising over 17.000 islands, well known for its rich cultural heritage, breathtaking landscapes, hundreds of ethnic and linguistic groups, recognized for its growing economy and large population, making it an important player in regional and global affairs through the Tourism Minister Widiyanti Putri Wardhana recently addressed the country's House of Representatives revealing the country's tourism plans, goals and expectations for 2025.
The minister reaffirmed his confidence that will be meet its target of arrivals this year, Indonesia's tourism sector continues to show a positive trend, currently the top five resources of international visitors to the country are Singapore, Malaysia, China, Australia and Japan and one of the goals is to continue to attract tourists from these countries and enlarging its incoming tourism operations to other markets.
As for the tourism sector' s economic contribution to gross domestic product, the expectations of the country are :
• Expecting to attract up to 16.0 million international visitors by the end of December.
• The tourism sector is expected to contribute 4.6% to Indonesia GDP in 2025.
• The tourism sector is expected to generate up to $22.0 billion in foreign exchange in 2025.
For the country innovation is the key of the success and the relevant agencies are exploring a number of innovative tools, plans and processes to achieve its plans and goals are :
• The country is developing international marketing campaigns to promote its tourism.
• Indonesia is planning a digital transformation improving accessibility with online operations to show the rich cultural and natural offerings more accessible and attractive resources to potential visitors.
• Indonesia is planning to launch new tourist proposals under the initiative "Super Priority Tourism Destinations" like Lake Taoba, Borobudur, Likupang, Mandalika and Labuan Bajo, emerging tourist spots that will be continuously promoted to diversify Indonesia's leisure destination for international travellers.
• The country plans to expand wellness and medical tourism, positioning Indonesia as an attractive destination for travellers seeking rejuvenation and holistic wellness services.
• Indonesia's tourism sector plans to hire 25.8 million people in various capacity across the tourism sector increasing its workforce and enhacing professionalim and excellence in the industry.
Indonesia witnessed a resurgence in international tourism sector and all these plans and strategies are undoubtedly a key to continue the brilliant momentum to create a tourism of high performances.
