Belize | Remarkable Tourism Growth with a Promising Outlook for 2025

Belize, captivating country on the eastern coast of Central America with Caribbean Sea shorelines to the east and dense jungle to the west and offshore a spectacular massive barrier reef dotted with hundreds of cays, hosting a rich marine life, a small nation but boasting a multitude of attractions ncluding Mayan ruins, jungles, rainforests, islands and dramatic landscapes, a destination which offers great outdoor adventure enjoying snorkeling, diving, fishing, hiking and exploring national parks achieved a remarkable tourism growth with a promising outlook for 2025.

 The country has emerged as a dynamic player in the global landscape this year,with its tourism sector that experienced strategic investment initiatives driving a solid growth with in addition plans to improve the visitor experience and protect its natural and cultural heritage consolidating itself as a top destination for tourism in the international scene.

 The Central American country reached a milestone in 2024 according to preliminary figures reported at the end of January by Belize Tourism receiving 562.405 overnight visitors, representing an increase of 21% over 2023 and 11.8% compared to 2019 before the pandemic.

Belize Tourism highlighted that record arrivals were achieved in 11 of the 12 months of the year compared to 2019, and that March was the month with the highest land arrivals to the country with 69.202 visitors.

 The country's success in attracting land - based visitors last year was not totally reflected in the cruise sector, concerning this segment Belize received 764.993 cruise tourists through November last year according to BTB, Belize Tourism Board data, a 1.6% decrease from 777.626 cruise passengers received during the same period in 2023.

 The Tourism Representatives of the Central American country stated that the outlook for 2025 is even more promising, as the country has embarked on a $250 million investment for the expansion of Philip Goldson International Airport, PGIA, with the aim of renovating the aging facility to accommodate more passengers and increase flight operations.

 Belize's economy is on track for continued expansion in 2025, driven by increased international investment, a strong recovery in tourism, and emerging sectors such as trade finance and business process outsourcing and with a strong focus on infrastructure development and diversification of its offer, positioning itself as a leading destination in the international landscape boosting its economic growth with several captivating tourist proposals satisfying the most demanding travellers.
