Italy | Wedding Tourism Notably Grows in the Country According to a Convention Bureau Italia Report

Italy is undoubtedly a very popular destination to celebrate wedding and honenymoons, boasting many regions and cites offering unique settings such as Tuscany, Amalfi Coast, Lake Como, Lake Garda, Lake Maggiore, Venice, Rome, Sicily, Sardinia, Portofino and the Riviera,among others each offering a unique, magic aura and a stunning scenary, rich culture and a romantic appeal bewitching a large number of couples from all around the world choosing to get married in this great country of inmmese charm.

 This wedding tourism boom continues and many locations in Italy were selected in 2024 by international couples to perform up to 15.100 weddings with an increase of 11.4% compared to those in 2023, according to a report written by Convention Bureau Italia, Organization established in 2014 with the mission to promote Italy and MICE Destinations, acring as an experienced point of contact and comprehensive source of information of those looking at Italy as a destination for their events.

This report written and published on an official website indicates that the average budget of these events has increased to €61.500. growing by 4.2% compared to the previous year, so they contributed close to €1.000 million to the Italian economy.

 As for the main markets of origin of those that have selected Italy for the celebration of their weddings, the United States of America, the United Kingdom and Germany stand out with 30.4%, 20.7% and 8.7% respectively of the total.

 The interest of couples arriving from abroad is strongly focused on central Italy as leading destination with 31.1% of the total number of weddings behind them there are southern regions and islands such as Sicily and Sardinia, with a share of 29.3%, despite a slight decrease in 2024 compared to to to the previous year.

 The figures are undoubtedly very significant also for the volume of business generated by the weddings of Italian couples held in the country, these reached €346.5 million in 2024, growing by 4.4% compared to 2023 data.

 With regard to the favourite destinations for the celebration of a wedding villages, villas and castles stand out, a trend which indicates an increase in applicaqtion for historic residences or luxury lotels, with autumn being the favourite season.
