Macau, autonomous and special administrative region of China, situated on the country's southern coast, opposite the Pearl River estuary from Hong Kong, a Portuguese territory until 1999, reflecting a mix of cultural influences with its economy revolving around tourism and capitalising on its long history as a gambling centre taking for thyat the nickname of "Las Vegas of Asia" for the presence of giant casinos is experiencing a significant expansion of the hotel sector with more than 4,000 new rooms under development.
Data from the Office of Urban and Territorial Construction of Macau specifies that,at the end of 2024 four hotel projects were under construction, while other ten were awaiting government approval and together these projects will add 4.229 rooms to the city's hotel market.
Most of the new supply under contruction is concentrated in Cotai, a 5.2 square - kilometre piece of land on the top of the Seac Pai Bay between Taipa and Coloane islands, where a single hotel will provide 2.724 rooms, in addition, 204 rooms are being developed on the Macau Peninsula, while the hotels pending approval include nine on the Macau Peninsula and one in Taipa, island connected to Coloane through Cotai, totaling 1.301 rooms.
These significant operations also include the ongoing development at Galaxy Macau, with a new ultra – luxury hotel, Capella at Galaxy Macaum scheduled to open on the second quarter of 2025 and featuring 93 rooms and Galaxy Entertainment Group is also developing Phase 4 of the complex, which will feature several hotel brands.
Londoner Grand is one of them and it will bring a touch of Mayfair, upscale and stylish district of London in the city of Westminster to Macau replacing the former Sheraton Macau and it will offer 2.405 rooms, including 1.500 suites the latter available for stays from 1st March 2025.
On the other hand, The Londoner Grand and the Paiza Grand, an exclusive all – suite property located at the top of the Londoner Grand hotel, the new accommodation offers of The Londoner Macao complex of Sands China Ltd, well known integrated resort developer and operator in Macau and a majority - owned subsidiary of Las Vegas Sands Corporation are now available for public reservations since 5th February 2025.
In addition, Las Vegas Sands Corporation, stated that 300 suites of the Londoner Grand had already openend at the end of September 2024 and the resort also launched Apex a new high - limit baccarat club, on the ground floor of The Londoner Macau.
