Puebla, Mexico | Developing Strategies and Actions to Strengthen its Tourism Competitiveness and Profesionalization

Puebla, state in Central Mexico, located on the central plateau southeast of the capital of the country Mexico City, a land boasts a very rich cultural and historical heritage, historic home of ancient cultures including the Otomi and the Totnac, boasting important archaeological sites, cradle of the "Mexican Baroque" both in architecture and in the decorative arts, highlighted by scenic mountain landscapes  and a few of smoking volcanoes, well known for for its culinary history and pottery is developing strategies and actions to strengthen its tourism competitiveness and profesionalization supported by Sectur, the Mexican Secretary of Tourism in charge of the nation's tourism promotion and development.

In a meeting in the Magical Town of Cuetzalan, the Secretary of Tourism of Mexico, Josefina Rodríguez Zamora and her counterpart from Puebla, Yadira Lira Navarro signed a collaboration agreement where the Governor, Alejandro Amenta Mier, served as a witness of honour.

The agreement has the purpose to establish bases as : 

 
•    Coordination mechanisms to develop strategies.
•    Instrument and actions that strengthen the professionalization in the sector.
•    Enhancing the competitiveness of the state.

The Secretary of Tourism of Mexico said that it is the first of many more to sign agreements with other entities in the country, it lays the foundation to strengthen the training, professionalization and competitiveness of the tourism sector, ensuring that growth translates into well - being for communities. 

 The signing of this document is in addition to the actions promoted in the current administration, so that the benefits of tourism activity reach all members of the value chain, with emphasis on native and Afro – descendant Peoples.

In addition the Head of the Tourism of Mexico congratulated the inhabitants of Cuetzalan on their upcoming 23rd anniversary of Magical Town, a title that has been able to honour by preserving their culture, their traditions alive, protecting their natural wealth and offering warm hospitality to visitors.

This town is an example of how tourism can be an engine of development, social well - being and shared prosperity, when its inhabitants, their history and their heritage are put in the centre.

Here where the mist embraces the earth and the waterfalls murmur ancestral stories, today is reaffirmed the commitment of the institutions to community tourism, to the conservation of the roots and the development of the local communities and the tourism.
