Thailand | Big Public Widely Support to Legalize Casinos Resorts in the Country

Thailand, popular tourist destination in South East Asia, boasting a rich cultural and historical heritage, stunning beaches and several attractions all around its territorty, is facing the theme to legalize gambling in casinos resorts in the country with the Thai government wants to follow Las Vegas style to boost tax revenues and overall tourism and this plan would seem widely supported by a big public.

A public consultation led as a survey requesting opinions and feedback was done, and about 70.000 responded and 80% of these reportedly may approve of a plan to bring legal casinos integrated in the resorts.

Several casinos operators are interested in bidding for a casino licens such as Galaxy Enterntaiment Group, well known company headquartered in Hong Kong, that owns hotels and casinos in Macau, through its subsidiary Galaxy Casino S.A., Las Vegas Sands Corp, famous American casino and resort company founded in 1988 based in Las Vegas, Nevada and MGM Resorts International, renowned multinational hospitality, sports and entertainment also headquartered in Las Vegas.

Despite this high positive opinion to  to legalize gambling in casinos integrated with resorts there is still some opposition directly linked to social problems around gambling and the high cost of entry that will shut local Thai companies.
