Paraguay | Reinforcing its Commitment to Sustainable Religious Tourism as a Spiritual and Cultural Path

Paraguay, a South American landlocked country situated between Argentina, Bolivia and Brazil reinforces its commitment to sustainable religious tourism as a spiritual and cultural path. 

The Latin American country with various initiatives has long since open its doors to religious tourism with options such as the Jesuit Route, the Franciscan Way, the Marian Circuit and the Guairá Faith Circuit, which combine the best of its culture, gastronomy, natural surroundings. 

This strategy aims to enhance historical and cultural sites of relevance and to diversity its tourist offer, and it is one of the market niches that Paraguay is determined to conquer offering a large variety of tourist routes and itineraries of notable value.

Recently Paraguay has been working hard for religious tourism with the product "Caminos de los Jesuitas" a multi - destination tour that covers historical sites of great spiritual value, which highlights the country's religious heritage, as well as its cultural richness and potential as a destination for all those who are looking for a deep and authentic experience.

In an event which was held in Turista Róga with the aim of deepening the importance of religious tourism for the development of the country, as one of the main strategies to strengthen its positioning in the international landscape, the National Secretariat of Tourism and the World Network of Religious Tourism, a collaborative platform that unites destinations,organizations and experts involved in themes which link religion and tourism, made a presentation on "destination Paraguay" a spiritual and cultural path towards Sustainable Religious Tourism.

The activity was attended by the Regional Director for the Americas of World Network Religious Tourism, Adrián Lomello, who highlighted the incorporation of Paraguay into the World Network of Religious Tourism, in order to work together to position itself as a key destination in the field of this segment.

The event saw the participation of the National Coordinator for the World Network of Religious Tourism, Margarita Ortiz and SENATUR, the National Secretatariat of Tourism of Paraguay represented by the General Director of products Andrés Ortiz who highlighted the presence of the Regional Director for the Americas, on an official visit a part of a tour of the continent as a relevant step to boost religious tourism.

The General Director of products of SENATUR said that this visit of the Regional Director for the Americas is very important because it opens opportunities to develop new tourism products that highlight the spiritual and cultural richness that Paraguay offers.

For his part, the Regional Director for the Americas of World Network Religious Tourism presented the benefits for Paraguay as a member of the network, such as a visibility and international positioning and in addition the opportunity to access important marketing platforms to promote its offer within a specialize niche of religious tourism.

Cooperation and joint work with other nations in the network will facilitate Paraguay's integration into international pilgrimages circuits with a great chance to showcase its relevant offer and its commitment to sustainable religious tourism as a spiritual and cultural path.
