The collection and brand within the larger Condé Nast media company represents a leading reference guide for independent travellers seeking luxury accommodations, ranked the Portuguese city in second position in its accurate study concerning luxury destinations.
Lisbon received 28% of the preferences of more than 1.700 respondents, second only to the French capital, Paris.
Among the main reasons that lead luxury tourists to choose the capital of Portugal, gastronomy appears at the top. According to the study led by Condé Nast Johansens, 76% of respondents value Portuguese food and wine, up from 73% in 2024.
Another factor increasingly valued by luxury tourists is the cultural and artistic offering Lisbon boasts.
The study reveals that 48% of respondents choose destinations for cultural experiences, an increase compared to the previous year.
The Portuguese capital stands out for its artistic life, with a program that includes music festivals, international exhibitions, galleries, historic theatres, and expanding urban art.
In addition, Lisbon offers contact with its roots, through traditional neighbourhoods, live fado, tiles, markets and architectural heritage.
Finally, according to the study, urban destinations are increasingly asserting themselves as epicentres of luxury tourism. This year, 69% of luxury travellers prefer cities as favourite destinations, compared to 65% recorded in 2024, a detail which marks a new trend in the global tourism scene.
Lisbon is a spectacular mix of historic charm and modern influences, all wrapped in the warm glow of a Mediterranean climate and breathtaking scenery, there’s always something new to discover walking the streets of the Portuguese capital, perpetually ready to bewitch a multitude of visitors with its eternal appeal.
