Meliá Hotels International | Opened a New ME by Meliá Hotel in Lisbon, Portugal

Meliá Hotels International, Spanish hotel chain founded in 1956 and headquartered in Palma de Mallorca has launched its first ME hotel in Portugal with the opening of ME Lisbon in the capital of the country, Lisbon, vibrant city located in the western point of the Iberian Peninsula on the banks of the Tagus River, one of the oldest cities in the world, well known for its rich cultural and historical heritage, highlighted by an outstanding architecture, scenic viewpoints, pastel - painted neighbourhoods, historic trams and soulful Fado music echoing through its streets, a centre blending old - warm charm with a creative, youthful energy inviting travellers to come back.

ME Lisbon is located at Avenida António de Aguiar 2, in Lisbon city centre and surrounded by luxury shopping districts, iconic landmarks and trendy restaurants, steps away from the bustling Marquês de Pombal Square and Park Eduardo VII, offering an excellent base for exploring the Portuguese capital,  and just 15 minutes from Lisbon International Airport, making transfers quick and convenient.

The hotel entered into the ME by Meliá Hotel brand, special collection in which culture, and lifestyle the ME People come together to create an inimitable personality. Each hotel is connected to the destination, becoming the social epicenter of the site and attracting the best of the local cultural landscape. Music, art, design, fashion and gastronomy make up the ME scene to provide visitors an authentic and unique experience beyond accommodation. 

The property is designed by João Paciência studio, an acclaimed firm based in Lisbon that since 1982 is working in several areas of architecture and urbanism with interiors by Broadway Malyan, a global design firm based in London, England, UK, dedicated to improving the future of the built environment worldwide with a comprehensive suite of interrelated design disciplines from master planning to architecture and interiors.

The design incorporates elements inspired by Lisbon’s creative energy, such as jacaranda – inspired lilacs and sculptural ceramics.

The hotel features a collection of contemporary Portuguese art curated by Guta Moura Guedes, cultural catalyst and strategic designer, engaged in the international design and cultural community as a curator, creative director, lectures, teacher and strategist since the early 90’s. 

ME Lisbon features 213 rooms and suites, including the 107 - square - metre Ultimate ME+Suite, which provides panoramic views of the city and the iconic São Jorge Castle.

The property include two culinary venues such as Fismuler, located on the ground floor, offers seasonal cuisine in a Nordic - inspired setting, and Attiko by Sunset Hospitality, a rooftop dining space with a pan - Asian menu. The rooftop also features the Attiko Rooftop Pool Bar which provides stunning views of Lisbon in all its splendour.

The establishment is equipped with a wellness centre, KORPO Spa, which provides a heater indoor pool, Turkish bath, dry sauna, and various treatments and a 24/7 Technogym.

The hotel also features spaces designed to host art, music, fashion and innovation events and aims to serve as a cultural hub with an artistic and social calendar that includes partnerships with events such ARCO Lisboa and Lisbon Design Week.
