This latest hotel in Hungary owned by Accor.S.A joins in the city a Mercure hotel, waiting for another Accor - listed property, the 4- star Hotel Lycium Handwritten Collection that will open its doors in October.
The property is a major infrastructure development next to Debrecen International Airport, which handled last year over 300.000 passengers and entered in the Ibis Style brand, a family of budget - friendly hotels known to offer uniquely themed designs and playful atmosphere. Both the City of Debrecen and the Ministry of National Economy want to turn the airport into the region’s leading aviation hub for both cargo and passenger traffic, with a clear target for the airport to accommodate a million passengers before the end of the decade.
Currently Debrecen remains relatively unknown by international visitors. According to Hungary Central Statistics Department in the area of Bács - Kiskun where the city is located. recorded 118.650 arrivals last year.
By comparison the capital of the country, Budapest recorded 3.55 million international arrivals while Western Hungary including Győr and Sopron rregistered 697.000 international arrivals.
