Villa Montellano, The Dominican Republic | Development of a Hospitality and Tourism Training Center Launched in the Town


Villa Montellano, a town in the Puerto Plata Province in the northwest of the Dominican Republic, located between the town of Sosúa and the city of Puerto Plata, bordered by the Atlantic Ocean to the north, close to the stunning Playa Dorada beach, a centre formerly called Ingenio Montella, historically linked to the cultivation and processing of sugarcane, originally developed around a sugar mill, will have in its municipality the development of a Hospitality and Tourism Training Center.

The National Institute of Professional Technical Training (INFOTEP), the governing body of the vocational training of the Caribbean country, a non - profit autonomous organization within the state in collaboration with Punta Bergantín Trust, organization that aims to create a comprehensive development with an innovative tourism model in the northern region that will impact the socioeconomic dynamics of the area, announced the launch of this relevant initiative.

The Mayor of Villa Montellano, Héctor Almonte and the councillors expressed their enthusiasm and celebrated the announcement stating about the positive impact that the center will have on the training and employability in the area.

 The aim of this project is to promote technical training in hospitality and tourism for residents of the area and surrounding communities focusing on professionalization and enhancing the workforce in the sector. 

This move is part of the comprehensive development plan of Punta Bergantín Trust, which includes investments in tourism, education, innovation and sustainability, with a direct impact on the strengthening of local human capital.

 This initiative responds to the joint commitment of both institutions  to professional development and the generation of new employment in the North Region, in line with the tourism and hospitality sectors growth promoted by Punta Bergantín Trust project.

The General Director of INFOTEP, Rafael Santos Badía, highlighted the strategic value of the project for the human and economic development of Villa Montellano, assuring that the process of construction will be streamlined as soon as possible.

The Executive Director of Punta Bergantín Trust, Andrés Marranzini Grullón, confirmed that the work to prepare the land will begin immediately, reaffirming the project's commitment to the well-being and development of the entire community.
