Radisson Hotel Group, multinational hospitality company based in Brussels, Belgium, has announced the opening of a verified zero hotel in Oslo, the capital, economic and governmental centre of Norway, an important hub of trade, banking, industry and shipping located on the country’s southern coast at the head of the Oslofjord, a city that is a blend of urban sophistication with outdoor adventures, known for its vibrant cultural scene, stunning architecture, extensive green spaces, parks and several top museums, many of them situated on the Bygdøy Peninsula.
Radisson RED Oslo City Centre, is a hotel that has achieved Verified Neto Zero status, a development that is part of Radisson Hotel Group’s broader strategy to reach Net Zero by 2050.
The property has rebranded from the Park Inn by Radisson and now meets the 2040 requirements of the Net Zero Methodology for Hotels, verified by TÜV Rheinland, a global leader in independent inspection services which test, accompany, develop, promote and certify products, plants, processes and management systems based in Köln, Germany.
The hotel is located in the beating heart of Oslo at Øvre Slottsgate 2C, not far from Karl Johans Gate, near key Oslo landmarks such as Oslo Opera House and the Munch Museum, providing guests a very convenient access to the city’s attractions.
Radisson RED Oslo City Centre features 118 redesigned, comfortable rooms, a renovated gym, social spaces, six meeting rooms equipped with modern audiovisual technology and high - speed Wi - Fi.
The hotel aims to offer guests an environmentally conscious stay, with features such as glass water bottles, bulk bathroom amenities, and recycling bins in all rooms and public areas. The property also provides digital concierge services to enhance the guest experience while reducing environmental impact.
The property is powered entirely by renewable energy, including city district heating sourced from sustainable methods such as waste - to - energy and data centre heat recovery. This eliminates Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions. Additionally, the hotel has implemented measures to reduce Scope 3 emissions through its operations and supply chains, particularly in areas such as food and beverage, laundry, and waste management.
Radisson Red Oslo City Centre is the second Verified Net Zero hotel by Radisson Hotel Group, following a similar opening in Manchester, England, UK earlier this year.
The hotel’s Verified Net Zero status is visible through initiatives like low - carbon menus, zero - waste practices, and the use of digital tools to minimize paper consumption.
Remaining emissions are offset with carbon removal certificate from Nature Based Solutions in collaboration with Agreena, a company based in Copenhagen, Denmark, developer of a soil carbon platform which supports regenerative practices across Europe farmland.
