W Hotels, an American hotel chain founded by Starwood Hotels and Resorts in 1998 but now owned by Marriott International, multinational hospitality company based in Bethesda, Maryland launched its inaugural adult - all inclusive resort, W Punta Cana.
The new development is located opened its doors in Punta Cana, a very popular destination situated on the easternmost most tip of the Dominican Republic abuts the Caribbean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean, in the province of La Altagracia, well known for its 32 kilometres stretch of pristine beaches, clear turquoise waters, vibrant nighlife and various attractions, offering visitors a wide range of outdoor activities, a development marks the brand’s into the all – inclusive market.
The resort is located at Carretera Uvero next to Playa Escondida beach and close to Rio Maimon Park, 22 km from Cana Bay Golf Club, 24 km from Punta Blanca and just a 45 - minute drive from Punta Cana International Airport.
W Punta Cana was developed by Zanobia Arquitectura, a Spanish firm based in Palma de Mallorca founded in 1998, made up of a group of multi - national experts specialised in the refurbishment of emblematic buildings, historic residences, hotel refurbishment and extensions, and new luxury residential properties in unique locations.
The resort integrates in its design local elements and features architecture and interiors that reflect the colours and textures of the Caribbean, incorporating motifs inspired by the region’s colonial heritage and with an use of natural materials.
The property features 340 comfortable, spacious guestrooms and suites, with each rooms starting at 700 square feet. All accommodations include king - size beds, and select suites offer swim - up pools and private pools.
W Punta Cana offers 12 dining and drinking venues, providing a range of culinary options from multicultural and Asian to local Dominican and Caribbean flavours, a 400 - metre beachfront, an 80 – metre infinity pool known as the WET Deck, along with a Chill Pool.
The new resort also features a wellness centre with the AWAY Spa, offering treatments inspired by local traditions, a 1.500 - square - foot gym and 14.000 square feet of meeting and event space, including a ballroom and multiple breakout rooms.
The resort’s entertainment offerings include live music created by the brand Music Director for the Caribbean and Latin America.
This opening is part of W Hotels’s strategy to expand its portfolio in the all - inclusive segment, with additional properties planned for Corasol Playa del Carmen and Costa Mujeres in Mexico in 2028 and 2029.
