Mozambique | Introduced a New Digital Platform aiming at Providing English Language Training for Tourism Professionals

Mozambique is actively working in modernizing its tourism industry through significant digital and infrastructure advancements, including launching an e - visa system, improving connectivity, investing in community - based tourism, developing eco - tourism, all initiatives aimed to increase tourism contribution to the GDP and now has introduced a new digital platform aimed at providing English language training for tourism professionals, with the goal of reaching five million users by 2030.

This initiative unveiled by the authorities in the capital of the country Maputo aims to professionalize the tourism sector  and is developed by the Government of the African country in partnership with Clube MozaBanco, a non - profit association committed to promoting environmental, social and economic sustainability in Mozambique and UK - based education provider Perfectly Spoken, a program designed to improve communication skills among local tour operators at low cost. 

Government officials and tourism leaders highlighted the platform’s potential which provides expert teachers, learning material, test & practice activities to enhance service quality and competitiveness in a sector that has grown steadily in recent years.

Mozambique’s tourism industry expanded from contributing 2.46% to 4.02% of GDP between 2021 and 2023. Early 2024 figures show further growth with 66 new tourism businesses launched, over 400 new rooms added and 559 jobs created in the fist quarter alone.

The country’s tourism outlook is positive and growing driven by eased entry requirements and infrastructure improvements with efforts to enhance sustainable tourism, accessibility and create immersive experiences, leveraging its stunning beaches, marine life, biodiversity and rich culture to attract more international visitors. The professionalization of numerous operators with linguistic knowledge will undoubtedly help to enhance the tourism industry reputation.
