Valletta, largest city and capital of Malta, lively centre for commerce, tourism and shopping, the southernmost capital of Europe and the European’s Union smallest capital, boasting a rich history, stunning baroque architecture, UNESCO World Heritage status, and a vibrant cultural scene will host the first Tourism Law Conference in Europe that will be held at the Valletta Campus of the Old University of Malta.
This inaugural event is organized by the University of Malta, with the the support of the Malta Tourism Authority and in collaboration with UN Tourism, the United Nations World Tourism Organization, specialized agency which promotes responsible, sustainable and universally accessible tourism.
The event will focus on the evolving legal and regulatory landscape that governs tourism in the European continent and provides an excellent opportunity for legal professionals, academics and industry stakeholders to connect and discuss the future of tourism law in Europe.
Tourism law enconmpasses the laws and regulations governing the global, national, and local tourism industry, covering areas such as consumer protection, business regulations, licensing, immigration, the development of tourism destinations and many other themes, representing an essential pillar for good governance within a solid framework that in the European tourism law primarily aims to maintain Europe’s competitive position as a top global destination by fostering sustainable, responsible, and high – quality tourism.
Through critical and forward looking discussions, the conference held under the overarching theme“Shaping the Future : Tourism : Tourism Law in Europe”seeks to establish a dialogue channel and bringing together member states, legal experts, academics and tourism stakeholders to address the evolving legal landscape of tourism.
The main purpose of the conference is to provide a platform for sharing knowledge and fostering dialogue on how legal frameworks can support a sustainable and competitive European tourism industry and respond to the rapid changes and emerging challenges within the sector, ultimately contributing to more robust, sustainable and future ready tourism governance across the region.
