Kazakhstan is establishing itself as a leading destination for medical tourism and the Minister of Health of the Central Asian country, Akmaral Alnazarova during a government briefing stated that since the beginning of 2025, more than 80.000 international citizens have travelled to Kazakhstan for medical treatmenst, as reported by Kazinform, a Kazakh international news agency based in Astana.
This significant number of international patients seeking high - quality and competitively priced services especially in cardiac surgery, ranked among the top 30 in the world, neurosurgery, dentistry and in vitro fertilization (IVF) represents a susbstantial growth in the country’s medical tourism sector.
The Minister of health noted that the combination orf high - quality care and affordable prices makes Kazakhstan an attractive destination for medical tourism and the government agencies are actively working to further develop this industry taking in account the expansion of both domestic and international air routes and developing new incentives for medical tourists.
Kazakhstan’s medical tourism success stems from high – tech, high - quality healthcare significantly lower costs than in Europe and the US. With a growing number of internationally accredited clinics and a strong government focus on the developing this sector, the country is becoming a major regional medical hub.
The country leads Central Asia in high - tech medicine, offering over 80 types of advanced procedures, including complex cardiac surgeries like transplants and LVAD transplantations, neuromodulation, and robot - assisted surgery.
Nine domestic clinics in Kazakhstan have already received international JCI accreditations, demonstrating a commitment to global standards of care. The country has established centres of excellence, such as a specialized cardiac hub in Astana that perform complex heart surgery and reproductive medicine centres in Almaty that are popular with foreign patients.
The Minister of health announced that this month, Kazakhstan will hold Days of Kazakh Medicine in Uzbekistan. Medical specialists will visit Tashkent, Karakalpakstan, Bukhara, and Samarkand to perform complex surgeries and conduct masterclasses and similar missions are planned in Tajikistan before the end of the year.
