The Red Sea EDITION has Opened its Doors as the First Hotel on Shura Island, Saudi Arabia

The Red Sea EDITION has opened its doors as the first hotel on Shura Island also known as Shurayrah, a resort island with a natural dolphin shape in the Red Sea coast of Tabuk Province, the main island of the Red Sea Project, megaproject that is being constructed on a 92 - island archipelago off Saudi Arabia’s western coastline.

The development of Shura Island is part of a broader strategy to establish Saudi Arabia as a luxury tourism destination, and the island is set to host various resorts, hotels, marinas, and entertainment facilities.

The launch of the hotel is part of a collaboration between Marriott International, American multinational hospitality company based in Bethesda, Maryland, EDITION Hotels, a group headquartered in New York City, U.S. boasting a refreshing collection of individualized hotels considered the anti - hotel chain, representing a new generation of luxury, and Red Sea Global, a vertically integrate real estate developer based in Tabuk, Saudi Arabia boasting a diverse portfolio across tourism, residential, experiences, infrastructure, transport, healthcare, and services.

Focusing on sustainable and regenerative tourism practices the hotel is the first to open on the island, which is part of a larger development initiative aligned with Saudi Arabia’s vision 2030 to enhance its tourism sector and diversify its offerings.

The hotel nestled along a kilometre of private beachfront with sweeping views across the Red Sea’s turquoise waters and proximity to Shura Links, a 18 - hole golf course designed by Brian Curley is a sanctuary of modern luxury and island serenity. Seamlessly connected yet blissfully remote, it harmoniously marries the serene beauty of its surroundings with the convenience of mainland accessibility.

The property features a design by Rockwell Group, an interdisciplinary architecture and design firm based in New York City, U.S. that emphasizes innovation and thought leadership in every project, incorporating natural materials like coral stone and oak, and focuses on integrating the architecture with the surrounding landscapes.

The design aims to reflect the natural environment, with indoor - outdoor transitions that emphasize views of the Red Sea and the island’s greenery.

The hotel features 240 comfortable rooms, with 53 one - and two bedroom suites. The property provides a variety of venues offering global and local cuisine such as the signature venue ANASA that is scheduled to open in December and will be led by Saudi Chef Basma Elkhereij. The hotel’s culinary program emphasizes seasonal ingredients and wellness – focused offerings.

Additional facilities include a spa with treatments inspired by the local environment, a gym equipped for various fitness activities and event spaces, including a grand ballroom and meeting rooms, with a total of over 1.000 square metres available for events.
