Marriott International, American multinational hospitality company based in Bethesda, Maryland has announced the future opening of a Couryard by Marriott hotel at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) serving Nairobi, the capital and largest city of Kenya, located in Embakasi suburb, 18 kilometres southwest of Nairobi’s central business district.
The development is part of an agreement between Marriott International and Aksaya Estates Limited, a real estate investment firm headquartered in Nairobi, a strategic operation that aims to enhance the African city’s hospitality infrastructure and expanding Marriott International’s portfolio in a key destination in East Africa like Kenya.
Scheduled to launch in 2027 the hotel will cater to business and leisure travellers. Currently under construction, the property will feature 180 comfortable rooms, two restaurants, fitness centre, a 18 - metre swimming pool, indoor and outdoor event spaces, and a landscaped courtyard.
The property has also secured preliminary EDGE Advanced Certification for sustainable design and it will be Aksaya Estates Limited’s second Mariott International - branded hotel in the Kenyan capital, following the Sankara Nairobi, Autograph Collection, and supports broader efforts to boost airport - area tourism capacity in East Africa’s travel hub.
The hotel will enter into the portfolio of Courtyard by Marriott, a mid - priced hotel brand, primarily targeting business travellers but also accommodating families. It is a select - service brand known for providing a comfortable and functional experience with features such as workspaces, complimentary Wi - Fi, fitness centre and event spaces.
