Waldorf Astoria Hotels & Resorts, formerly The Waldorf - Astoria Collection, a luxury hotel and resort brand of Hilton Worldwide Holdings, Inc., American multinational hospitality company headquartered in Tysons, Virginia has officially opened its brand's second property in Shanghai, sprawling city on China’s central coast, a vibrant metropolis with a mix of historic architecture and futuristic skyscrapers, a world’s class shopping destination and a global economic powerhouse, a major hub for finance, culture and technology, often called the “Magic City” and “Paris of the East” for its dynamic international feel of old and new.
The new Waldorf Astoria Shanghai Qiantan is located at 18 Linyao Road on the southern stretch of Shanghai’ new Bund, opposite the Waldorf Astoria Shanghai on the Bund across the Huangpu River, in the heart of Qiantan Shanghai Putong District, a newly built international business zone strategically situated 4.3 kilometres from Longhua Temple, 6 km from Shanghai Railway Station, 9 km from People’s Square and 17 kilometres from Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport.
The hotel designed by Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates (KPF), an American architectural firm based in New York City that provides architecture, interior, programming and master planning service and Cheng Chung Design, a company specialing in providing interior design and consulting services for top international brand hotels headquartered in Hong Kong, incorporates elements inspired by Shanghai’s Art Deco heritage.
The property features 204 comfortable rooms and suites in size from 52 square metres. Some suites include outdoor jacuzzi, offering views of the Shanghai skyline.
Dining options at the Waldorf Astoria Shanghai Qiantan, include Arame, which serves modern European cuisine, and Fu Cheng, led by Michelin - starred chef Justin Yang focusing on Min cuisine. In addition the hotel features the Starlight room, a reservation - only chef’s table with an open kitchen and private terrace.
Amenities at the hotel include a 24 - hour fitness centre, a 25 - metre indoor heated pool, four private treatment rooms and access to nearby jogging trails, cycling paths, and parks, along with wellness activities such as evening meditation and sunrise yoga.
