IHG Hotels & Resorts, a British multinational hospitality company headquartered in Windsor, Berkshire, England, UK has partnered with Urban Property Group, a dynamic Sydney based property development, construction and investment company founded in 1987 to open a 217 - room hotel Crowne Plaza hotel in Parramatta, a city and major commercial centre in Greater Western Sydney located on the banks of the Parramatta River, approximately 24 kilometres west of Sydney CBD.
Parramatta is home to Westfield Parramatta, the tenth largest shopping centre in Australia, and the major transport hub for Western Sydney, servicing trains, and buses, as well as having a ferry wharf and future light rail and metro services.
The area is recognized as Sydney’s second central business district, with significant developments in commerce, education and the arts and is experiencing increased visitor numbers due to cultural investments like the new Powerhouse Parramatta Museum and the expanded Riverside Theatre precint. In addition the upcoming Western Sydney International Airport, expected to open in 2026, is anticipated to further enhasnce accessibility to the the region.
The Crowne Plaza Parramatta set to open in 2029 will be l.ocated at 30 Philllip Street, in a mixed - use development opposite Parramatta Train Station offering direct connectivity to the Westfield Parramatta shopping precinct.
The hotel will feature 217 comfortable rooms, various dining options, including an all - day restaurant, a lobby bar, a rooftop infinity pool, an outdoor terrace, and flexible meeting and event spaces. These facilities aims to cater to business travellers, event delegates, and leisure guests.
The property will join the Crowne Plaza upscale brand designed for both business and leisure travellers offering comfort and various amenities, characterized by a focus on guest connections, modern communal spaces, and intuitive service created to meet the needs of today’s travellers, with its hotels often located in city centres, resort destinations or near airports.
This development is part of IHG Hotels & Resorts’ strategy to expand the Crowne Plaza brand which currently includes 415 open hotels and 144 properties in the pipeline worldwide. The addition of Crowne Plaza Parramatta will join other Australian locations such as Crowne Plaza Sydney Darling Harbour, Crowne Plaza Melbourne, and Crowne Plaza Adelaide Mawson Lake.
