On 16th December 2025, Ethiopian Airline Group, the flag carrier of Ethiopia founded in 1945 and wholly owned by Ethiopian Investment Holdings, the sovereign wealth fund of the African country and member of Star Alliance, inaugurated a new premium lounge developed at Addis Ababa Bole International Airport, one of the busiest airports in Africa with a capacity of providing a world class services for more than 22 million international and 2 million domestic passengers per year, located in the Bole district, 6 km southeast of the city centre.
This development marks a major upgrade for passengers travelling through Africa’s busiest hub. The 5.500 m² represents an investment of more than US$16 million and can host up to 1.000 passengers, strengthening the carrier’s hub proposition and notably improving the traveller experience.
The space includes multiple dining and seating areas, bars, an Ethiopian traditional coffee corner, meeting rooms, a children’s room, a beauty lounge, prayer room, quiet room, smoking room, luggage storage and showers, reflecting the diverse needs of both leisure and business travellers.
Access is available to ShebaMiles Platinum and Gold members, and Star Alliance members and eligible partner frequent flyers.
CEO of Ethiopian Airlines Group Mesfin Tasew Bekele said that the lounge forms part of the airline’s push to enhance end - to end hospitality for customers across its global network.
