The Indian Hotels Company Linited (IHCL) , a hospitality firm part of Tata Group and based in Mumbai has officially opened a new SeleQtions hotel in Varanasi, also known as Kashi or Benares, one of the world’s oldest living cities, located in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh on the sacred banks of the Ganges River, making it India’s spiritual capital.
The city is a major Hindu pilgrimage site for bathing and rituals, and a hub for culture, arts, silk weaving, music, known as home to sitar maestro Ravi Shankar, and learning, with the presence of the renowned Benares Hindu University, also known for its sacred ghats along the Ganges River, temples like Kashi Vishwanath, famous for its vibrant sensory - rich atmosphere, attracting spiritual seekers, and cultural and history enthusiasts.
The opening of Avantika by the Ganges, Varanasi - IHCL SeleQtions marks IHCL’s expansion and continued presence in Varanasi, adding to its existing portfolio in the city. The new hotel aims to cater to travellers seeking a blend of traditional and contemporary hospitality.
The hotel is located at 3,4, K -24/2, 9 & 102, Ram Ghat, Kotwali on the banks of the Ganges River, 700 metres from Kaal Bhairava Mandir Temples, 2.4 km from Kashi Vishwanath Temple, and a short five - minute drive Dasaswamedh ghat.
The property features 43 rooms and suites, Dhanushkoti, an all - vegetarian restaurant serving dishes inspired by traditional Varanasi cuisine with locally sourced ingredients, a fitness centre, a spa, and a salon.
