Hilton Worldwide Holdings, Inc., American multinational hospitality company based in Tysons, Virginia has unveiled plans to open its second Curio Collection by Hilton hotel in Japan located in Kyoto, a very captivating city boasting a rich cultural heritage and a rich history as Japan’s Imperial capital for over a thousand of years, a centre located on Honshu Island, famous for its several classical Buddhist, Shinto shrines, some of them designated as UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
For the future opening Hilton has signed an agreement with Brighton Corporation Co., Ltd, a hotel management and operation company headquartered in Uraysu - Shi, Chiba, Japan to convert the hotel Kyoto Brighton into a Curio Collection by Hilton property with Brighton Corporation that will continue to manage the hotel after the conversion.
Hilton currently operates five hotels across four brands in Kyoto. The addition of the Curio Collection is part of a broader strategy to expand Hilton presence in key destinations in Japan and aims to cater to the diverse needs of travellers visiting a very demanded destination like Kyoto.
The rebranded hotel is scheduled to open in the winter of 2028 following a comprehensive renovation and is located at 330 Shiteicho, Kamigyo Ward, in a quiet residential area surrounded by historic shrines and temples, about a 5 - minute walk from the Kyoto Imperial Palace, a 10 - minute walk from Imadegawa subway, 2 km from the 17th - century Nijō Castle and close to many long - established shops that have supported Kyoto’s food culture, such as swets, soy sauce, miso, and sake.
The property will feature approximately 160 rooms, four dining outlets, a fitness centre and a banquet space for up to 240 guests.
The hotel will join the Curio Collection by Hilton, a global portfolio of unique, upper - upscale hotels hand - picked for their distinctive character, history and local immersion, offering guests bespoke stories through unique architecture, curated located experiences, and world - class dining.
The hotel will participate in Hilton Honors, the company’s guest loyalty program, offering benefits such as earning points, member perks, flexible payment options and digital services for members who book directly through Hilton channels.
The future Curio Collection by Hilton Kyoto will join a portfolio of over 190 under the Curio Collection by Hilton. This will be the second Curio Collection property in Japan, following the opening of the first in Karuizawa, Nagano Prefecture, in 2018 with he brand that has also recently expanded its presence in Asia with openings in China and Thailand.
