Lisbon has been recognised “ Best MICE Destination in Europe” at the 6th edition of the World MICE Awards which took place in Sakhir. Bahrain. The Portuguese capital once again stands out among the main international destinations in the MICE segment, achieving a distinction for the third consecutive time after the successes in 2023 and 2024 increasing its economic relevance and international visibility.
The World MICE Awards were created to distinguish excellence in business tourism, value destinations, operators’ spaces and services that contribute to raising global standards in the sector.
Lisbon has been recognized for its excellent infrastructure, strategic location, diverse culture (history, gastronomy, tiles, viewpoints) accessibility, hotel capacity, and consistent high ranking in the International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA) world rankings, solidifying its status as a leading European hub for meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions (MICE) tourism sector.

The most recent data from ICCA confirms this dynamic, with Lisbon ranking second among European cities with the highest number of associative events (153 in 2024.
Mayor of Lisbon Carlos Moedas said that this distinction demonstrates Lisbon’s ability to attract events that generate investment and employment, to underline that business tourism is today a central piece in the city’s development strategy, and this recognition shows that Lisbon is consolidating a leadership position in Europe.
Executive Director of the Lisbon Tourism Association Paula Oliveira stated that this recognition reflects a strategy that has been able to evolve with the market, which recognizes that Lisbon today presents a competitive proposal for events of all sizes, which benefits from the quality of its infrastructures, the professionalization of the sector and the ecosystem that can respond to the demands of international organizers.
