The emblematic cathedral just reached 11 million in one year, that's ahead of both the Louvre Museum and Eiffel Tower. A year after reopening Notre Dame de Paris has taken back the top spot, the fire, the shock, and five years of public restoration kept global attention on this Parisian icon, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, inscribed in 1991, recognized for its Gothic architectural mastery, cultural influence, and role in French history.
Driven by curiosity, pilgrimage, ongoing restoration interest and its status as a cultural symbol, becoming France's most visited monument for historical significance (Crown of Thorns coronations) and a powerful narrative of resilience and rebirth, Notre Dame de Paris since its reopening a year ago is showing unprecedented figure in terms of visits.
According to sources linked to the religious institution, quoted by BFM TV, these are visitors from all over the world, eager to see the rebirth of a cathedral that on April 15, 2019 was minutes away for collapsing in the face of a voracious fire that shocked France and the globe.
The rate of entry of tourists and faithful to Notre-Dame de Paris has increased since its reopening on December 7, 2024, leaving behind the average of about eight million annual visitors and recently began to allow access to its North Tower, considered a privileged viewpoint of Paris.
