Tulum, a popular resort town on the Caribbean coastline of Mexico’s Yucatán Peninsula, famous for its stunning white – sand beaches, turquoise waters, eco – chic vibe, and the well - preserved iconic clifftop Mayan ruins overlooking the sea, a destination that offers a mix of relaxation, adventures like diving in cenotes and snorkeling, activities ranging from yoga retreats to exploring ancient temples and nearby nature reserves, launched “Tulum todo el año” an initiative to boost tourist flows all year round.
This project aims to reposition the destination as a tourism hub of relevance and Municipal President Diego Castañón Trejo launched this initiative which will strengthen tourist occupancy with the purpose to attract 100.000 additional visitors during the year.
With this initiative the destination wants to face the low seasons and generate a constant economic spillover at the municipal, state and federal levels. The calendar includes a monthly event with international scope, designed to attract visitors, strengthen the image of Tulum and benefit various productive sectors.
The first event will take place on December 31, 2025 until January 11, 2026, a festival with diverse themes, such as art, cimena, culture, ecotourism, gastronomy, music, spirituality, and technology.
Tulum Tourist Organization expects average stays to be a minimum of three nights per event and pointed out that is not an imposition of exclusive events, but that they are open to receiving proposals from businessmen, local brands, academic institutions amnd social organizations, under a vision of collaboration between government, private initiative and the media, according to Caribe Peninsular, digital portal which report news from Yucatán Peninsula.
The official added that as every year, there are medium, low, high seasons;
In 2025 the low season was 10% lerss than last year due to different factors.
One and the most important was the sargassum, and the institutions have to
start planning to see how to solve this problem, but together it’s possible to
address it.
The Municipal President pointed out that Tulum hotel occupancy remains close to 80%, despite the challenged faced, adding the efforts made to promote the destination more and highlighting Tulum as a unique destination.
