Corinthia Hotels, a luxury brand based in London, England, UK, known for its “Grand Boutique” style, blending historic landmark buildings with modern, bespoke luxury, exceptional dining, and comprehensive wellness has officially opened a 60 - room hotel on Piazza del Parlamento in the heart of Rome, Italy’s capital and largest city.
Corinthia Rome owned by Reuben Brothers marks Corinthia Hotels’ debut in Italy and the second property operated by Corinthia Hotels for Reuben Brothers.
The hotel is located at Piazza del Parlamento 18 in the heart of Rome’s historic Campo Marzio Distrcit, minutes from the Pantheon, Spanish Steps, Via Condotti, and Trevi Fountain.
The property occupying a restored neoclassical palazzo formerly associated with the Bank of Italy designed by Pio and Marcello Piacentini and constructed between 1913 and 1921, underwent a restoration led by design Studio GA.
The restoration returned to structure to its original proportions, removing later additions and revealing original mosaics, stuccoes, cornices, painted ceilings, and marble details, preserving the building’s architectural integrity, including its original 1920s frescoes.
The hotel features 60 rooms, including 21 suites. The accommodations are designed as private residences within the historic building, featuring high ceilings, large windows, and restored architectural details paired with contemporary furnishings.
Suites include the duplex Campo Marzio Suites, the Chigi Suite with a rooftop terrace, the Arte Suite, and the Aurea Penthouse, which is inspired by the Domus Aurea.
The former Council Chamber, overlooking Palazzo Montecitorio, has been converted into the Theodoli Heritage Suite. This suite retains original frescoes by Giulio Bergellini and a ceiling by Guglielmo Janni, which depicts an allegorical map of Italian currency.
The property includes three dining venues curated by chef Carlo Cracco in his first Roman project. Viride offers contemporary Italian cuisine with an interior garden view, Piazzetta and Ocra Bar provide additional dining and social spaces within the property.
A subterranean spa, located in the building’s original vault, is inspired by Roman bathing rituals and offers treatments developed in collaboration with Seed to Skin and 111Skin London, including the Chrysalis and Reverse Signature Facial.
