Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia | Opened ISAC, a Global Educational Destination Centre to Welcome International Students

Kuala Lumpur, the capital, largest city, cultural, financial tourism, political and economic centre of Malaysia, entirely landlocked in the state of Selangor in the middle of the west coast of Peninsular Malaysia, widely recognised for numerous landmarks, including Petronas Twin Towers,  the world’s tallest twin skyscrapers, Petaling Street flea market, and Batu Caves, which is over 400 million years, opened ISAC, a centre to welcome international students. 

The International Student Arrival Centre (ISAC), located at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) is the first of its kind in the world, seeking to strengthen the country’s position as a global educational destination.  

With this project Kuala Lumpur and Malaysia reinforce their commitment to attract international talent and sstrengthen the quality and global projection of their education. 

The initiative is a collaborative effort between the Ministry of Higher Education, EMGS, the Immigration Department, and Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd to enhance the overall experiences for international students.

ISAC is designed to offer efficient services, clear guidance and a warm introduction to Malaysian culture and hospitality. 

Key features and services of ISAC include

•    24/7 Operational Support: Dedicated EMGS personnel are stationed at the centre 24/7 to provide assistance, ensuring support is available regardless of arrival time. 
•    Faster Immigration Clearance: The centre helps expedite the entry process by providing access to special student priority lanes. 
•    Arrival Guidance and Briefing: ISAC provides crucial, first – hand information, including briefings on immigration procedures and guidance on completing documents like the Malaysia Digital Arrival Card (MDAC). 
•    Logistics and Transportation Assistance: The team provides information on airport – to – campus transportation, including taxi services and, in some cases, arranging pickup through university representatives.
•    Information Hub: Students can receive information kits containing tips on local transportation, money – savings apps, and initial student support services. 
•    Strategic Location: Located before the immigration counters at KLIA Terminal 1 and Terminal 2. 

During the opening ceremony, Minister of Higher Education Zambri Abdul Kadir stated that the creation of ISAC reflects the country’s commitment to ensuring that international students feel welcomed, valued and safe from the moment they arrive. 

Malaysia is currently home to more than 150.000 international students from more than 160 countries, reinforcing its position as one of the region’s leading educational destinations.
