London, England, UK | Heathrow Airport Hits Record with its Busiest Every Year for Passenger Traffic in 2025

Heatrow Airport, also known as London Heathrow Airport, the primary and largest international airport serving London, the capital of England and the United Kingdom, the largest of the six international airports in the London  airport system, hits record with its busiest every year for passenger traffic in 2025.

The British airport owned and operated by Heathrow Airport Holdings in 2025 was the busisest airport in Europe, the fifth airport in the world by passenger traffic and the second – busiest airport in the world by international passenger traffic.

The airport handled over 84.5 million passengers, cementing its position as busiest airport in the European continent and is forecasting a small increase for 2026 taking, it over 85 million passengers.

In addition Heatrow Airport said despite the numbers, overall flight improved. More than four million passengers flew on time compared with 2024 and baggage and security performances improved too. Baggage load rates that were close to 99% for the year, ensuring smoother, more reliable journeys.

Alongside these brilliant performances, the airport will spend £1.3 this year on capital investment programmes. This will kickstart work to revamp Terminal 4, progress with the new baggage system design for Terminal 2 and enhance services for passengers with accessibility needs.

London Heathrow Airport also increased revenue of £3.6 billion but a flat adjusted Earnings Before Interest, Taxes, Depreciation, and Amortization (EBITDA) of £2 billion.

 Heathrow’s Board decided to pay dividens of £550 million to the ultimate shareholders during the financial year, the first time in five years.

Heathrow Airport CEO Thomas Woldbye said that last year everyone at Heathrow Air hub rallied behind the ambition to deliver exceptional operational performance for the airport’s customers and not only Heathrow surpassed that goal but surpassed it and achieved record - breaking.
