•    Hotel - Style Standards: Operators will be required to meet stricter registration and operational standards, bringing informal holiday rentals closer to traditional hotel and guesthouse compliance. 
The regulatory changes reflect a wider global shift in how tourist – heavy cities balance tourism growth with long - term housing availability. 

Cape Town officials have indicated that the primary aim is to bring greater transparency and accountability to the market without undermining the tourism sector. Enhanced data - sharing between booking websites and authorities is also being considered as a tool to improve tax compliance monitoring across the industry.
