In Holguín, a city in eastern Cuba, known as the “City of Parks”, characterised by a meticulously designed, grid - based city centre, rich cultural history, a blend of colonial, eclectic, and neoclassical architecture, offering stunning panoramic views from Loma de la Cruz, a private company and the state - run company Mecánica Héroes del 26 de Julio, are currently promoting a circular model in the city based on the massive recycling of packaging for the national industry, according to Prensa Latina, the official state news agency, headquartered in Havana.
Sole partner of the private company, Miguel Alejandro Pavón, explained that they have a contract with a brewery for the collection of bottles in eastern Cuba, an alliance that has allowed them to achieve 70% recycling in the production of said commercial entity.
The company processes between 900.000 and 1 million bottles of various formats monthly, which are pressed into 300 - kilogram bales for subsequent transfer to the processing industry.
This innovation represents a breakthrough in the integration of technological tools into the recycling process, improving incentives for consumers and collectors who participate in the circular value chain.
The
initiative integrates the maintenance of industrial facilities and the cleaning
of areas, consolidating the role of non - state forms of management in local
development.
The productive dynamic involves managers and collectors in shopping houses and
daily collection points, transforming solid waste into a stable source of
income while directly contributing to the protection of the environment in the
region.
