Namibia | Trained Frontline Officials to Improve Service Delivery and Tourist Welcome Experience

The Namibia Tourism Board (NTB) in partnership with the Ministry of Home Affairs, Immigration, Safety, and Security following a cooperative agreement signed between the two entities on 7 June launched an initiative with a two - day customer care training programmes for 47 police, immigration and Namibia Revenue officials, aimed at improving service delivery and tourist welcome experience at the country’s borders.

The training which began on Monday 23 June, 2026 trained frontline officials to treat tourists as esteemed ambassadors, ensuring positive first impressions at all entry points of the country was facilitated by the Namibia University of Science and Technology’s Harold Pupkewitz Graduate School.

The core Curriculum strengthens customer service skills, improve cross - cultural communication, promotes overall professionalism and reinforcing the importance of creating positive impressions for arriving visitors.

Designed to enhance destination competitiveness, increase repeat visits, and boost positive word - of mouth promotion, the training stems from an official Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at supporting the sustainable growth of Namibia’s tourism sector.

The initiative form part of broader efforts to position Namibia as a safe, welcoming and competitive tourism destination.

Namibia Tourism Board spokeperson Flora Quest noted that frontline officials serve as ambassadors for Namibia with their conduct directly influencing the travellers perceive the destination. Excellent customer service contributes significantly to visitor satisfaction, destination competitiveness and positive word - of – mouth promotion.
