Venezuela | JetBlue Announced its Intent to Launch its First - Ever Service to the South American Country

JetBlue,  a renowned American low - cost airline headquartered in Long Island, Queens, New York City has announced its intent to launch historic non -stop flights between Fort Lauderdale - Hollywood International Airport (FLL) located in the U.S. state of Florida and Simón Bolívar International Airport (CSS) situated near Caracas, Venezuela’s capital and largest city. This operation, if successful will mark the airline’s first - ever service to the South American country and aims to provide budget - friendly options to the South Florida community.

With this initiative, JetBlue will become the third U.S. airline with plans to fly to Venezuela this year, joining American Airlines and United Airlines, and marking the milestone of the landing of the low – cost model for mass travel with the Fort Lauderdale - Caracas route before the end of 2026, pending regulatory approval.

American Airlines became the first carrier after Maduro’s fall to operate service between the U.S. and Venezuela, launching Miami - Caracas flights on April 30, 2026, while United Airlines will begin service between Houston and Caracas on 11th August 2026. These initiatives set the stage for the American Department of Transportation to lift the ban of flights between the U.S. and Venezuela that had been in place since May 2019

This historic route to Caracas operated by JetBlue will be the twelfth destination from Fort Lauderdale – Hollywood airport since the May 2 bankruptcy of Spirit Airlines, which had been JetBlue’s biggest competitor.

The airline’s Vice President of networking planning and partnerships Dave Jehn said that Fort Lauderdale continues to serve as JetBlue’s gateway to the Caribbean and Latin America, and the company believes there is a significant opportunity to expand its presence in the region with scheduled service to Caracas.

Key details regarding the planned expansion of JetBlue to Caracas:

•    The Route: Direct, nonstop flights connecting Fort Lauderdale (FFL) to Caracas (CCS).
•    Airline and Aircraft: The route will be operated by JetBlue using Airbus A320 aircraft.
•    Timeline: JetBlue plans to begin the service before the end of 2026, with ticket sales expected to open in the coming months.
•    Status: The route is currently pending final government approvals and operating processes in Venezuela.
•    Broader Context: This initiative comes as the U.S. - Venezuela travel market is reopening, with American Airlines already operating routes from Miami, and United Airlines planning to resume daily Houston – Caracas service.
