Arba Minch Conference Resort has officially opened its doors in Arba Minch, a city and separate woreda in the southern part of Ethiopia, about 500 km south of the capital of the country, Addis Ababa.
Set in the Great Rift Valley the city name “Arba Minch” means “40 Springs”, originated from the presence of more than 40 springs in its boundaries. The city is split into uptown, the administrative centre and downtown, the commercial urban area and it features two lakes such as Lake Abaya and Lake Chamo separated by a scenic land bridge known as “God’s Bridge”.
The opening forms part of Ethiopia’s broader strategy to develop world - class tourism infrastructure, diversify its visitors offering and strengthen its position as an emerging African destination for both business and cultural travel.
The resort designed to bolster the country’s MICE and leisure sectors aims to enhance tourism offering in the region combining luxury, nature, and conference tourism in one unforgettable destination.
The property set against the backdrop of Lakes Abaya and Chamo and the nearby Nech Sar National Park features 85 luxury rooms, including two presidential suites and a conference centre with capacity for more than 1.300 delegates, positioning it as one of Ethiopia’ s primary venues for meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions.
The resort also offers a floating restaurant overlooking Lake Avbaya, wellness facilities, landscaped gardens and cultural experiences celebrating the rich Ethiopia’s heritage.
Tourism officials expect the development to enhance Arba Minch’s capacity to host major national and international events, create local employment and stimulate surrounding businesses.
