Hyatt Hotels Corporation, American multinational hospitality company based in Chicago, Illinois, has unveiled plans to open a Hyatt Regency hotel in Tucson, the county seat of and the most populous city in Pima County in the U.S. state of Arizona, famous for its stunning Sonoran Desert landscapes, a UNESCO City of Gastronomy offering world - class food, and rich history.
The city boasts endless sunshine, majestic mountain range, and unique natural and cultural attractions like Saguaro National Park, protecting millions of the giant iconic cacti and the Arizona Sonora Desert Museum combines a zoo, botanical garden, and aquarium showcase local wildlife.
The Hyatt Regency Tucson Convention Center developed in partnership with HSL Properties, a large real estate developer based in Tucson specialising in retail and roadside commercial property and Desert Hospitality Management a hotel management company also headquartered in Tucson that operates hotels for big brands like Hilton Hyatt, and Marriott.
Scheduled to open in late 2027, the hotel will be the first Hyatt – Regency - branded hotel in Tucson, part of Hyatt Hotel Corporation portfolio expansion in key destinations in the United States like Tucson, a city that welcomes approximately 7 million overnight visitors, generating a massive total economic impact of $332 million and with tourism supporting 25.000 local jobs.
The hotel will be located in downtown Tucson near the Tucson Convention Center, a 27 - acre campus features over 200.00 square feet of flexible meeting space, a 8.962 - seat sports arena, two performing arts theatres and close to Linda Ronstadt Music Hall, Leo Rich Theatre, and Tucson Arena.
The project includes a multi - million dollar transformation of a hotel that has been vacant since 2012, introducing 291 rooms and suites, a fitness centre, a pool area, and approximately 22.000 square feet of flexible meeting and event space.
The meeting and event facilities will include a large ballroom and multiple breakout rooms designed for corporate conferences, association meetings, weddings, and social events.
The hotel will join Hyatt Regency Hyatt Hotels Corporation ‘s flagship brand, known for connecting travellers with what matters through a blend of productivity and relaxation, offering modern yet, functional, comfortable rooms, spacious lobbies, diverse culinary experiences, ample workspaces, and meeting facilities.
The brand catering to both large conventions and family vacations, has a focus on seamless, tech - enabled experiences and dedicated event planning, and often provides a Regency Club lounge for elite members, positioning them as central hubs in urban and resort destinations.
The addition of the Hyatt Regency brand is described as a milestone for Tucson’s hospitality and convention business. The hotel is expected to enhance the city’s ability to attract group events, regional conferences, and national conventions, supporting economic growth in the region.
